Sami Yusuf was born in the month of July 1980. He was born into a musical family of Azeri origin and thus music played an integral part in his life. Sami’s initial training came from his father, who is an internationally renowned composer, poet, and a multitalented musician.

Sami grew up in London and learnt to play several instruments at a very young age and gradually began to show a keen interest in singing and composing. He studied music at several institutions and with renowned composers and musicians including composers from the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the world most prestigious music institutions.

Sami has been composing from a very young age and his beautiful voice is supplemented by his extensive knowledge of notes and harmonies. He has also a good understanding of music theory and the Middle Eastern modes (or Maqams).

Indeed, it is rare to find a person who has all these talents. Sami is also a devout practicing British Muslim who sees songs as a means of promoting the message of Islam and encouraging the youth to be proud of their religion and identity. I like your songs a lot, as they are very good for Muslim youths. It is an alternative to songs with disgusting lyrics, especially as your songs include a message, as well as a song.

Sami puts music in his nasheeds. Without music Sami, without it, that’s how you do that. NO music is allowed in islam. Devout muslim knowing that the instruments are haram.

How can you do that, Sami? WHy do u do that.

I can’t understand you, music is haram, even though you are a good musician, you definitely are.

Take the music out of the nasheeds. Use choirs, use vocalist program and stuff. It can sound way better.

MUSIC IS HARAM, I studied music my whole life. It is haram and Sami knows that and goes on with that. Shame huh?

Salammu aliekum Sami Yusuf i just luve ur voice and my mom luves ur voice as well u know everytime i listen to ur songs, i jus feel so different it makes me feel refresh and so relaxed becoz wat u say in ur songs are all true about Allah and His Prophets peace be upon them, i’m so proud dat we all as muslims have somone like u to lead us, and show us and tell us like ur doing right now sending message through ur songs and making us understand the meaning of life as muslims, and telling us all these unknown stories about our prophets (PBUThem) and how life was in the early times, exactly like our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was doing exactly like him ur a mu’alem, like u said in ur song He Was Muhammad (PBUH)
    Thank You so much
I really appreciate ur hard work and ur sacrifices
