GOMBAK- The issue on privatization continues again. On 24th August 2006, Thursday a meeting between Students Representative Council (SRC), Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) and the honorable rector, Prof Dato’ Dr Syed Arabi Idid was held at Office of the Rector, at eight in the morning.

All the MRC’s Presidents representing 15 mahallah were invited to join in order to know all the shallow information regarding this hot issue.

During this meeting, the rector informed there would not be any price hike. The residential college fees would be the same. As a matter of fact, IIUM needs to go through a lot of processes if IIUM’s authority body wants to hike the price. Moreover, the Malaysia’s government would involve in this matter if IIUM planning to increase the price for everything.

Indeed, IIUM Holdings belongs to IIUM authority aims to increase the quality services that they provide to the students. Rumors mentioned IIUM Holdings wants to privatize the transport in this university is also a false story. Syed Arabi mentioned that IIUM Holdings has nothing to do with the bus transportation.

Before the meeting reaches the end, SRC’s President Radziz Jalaludin gave a memorandum signed by residents of IIUM to the rector. – ALIF NEWSLETTER
