21 students’ leaders were selected to join the educational visit to India and I’m one of them. This educational visit was organized and by Students’ Development Division and fully sponsored by IIUM. 2 officers from S-Dev accompanied us and they were Sister Rusnani and Sister Azlina. We departed from KLIA on 19th of June 2006 at about 12.00 pm and reached Indira Ghandi International Airport, New Delhi at 4.30 pm (local time). We were brought to India Gate, the national monument of India and spent about half an hour there.

We were in Delhi just for one night because we departed for Jaipur at 8.30 am the next day. The journey from New Delhi to Jaipur took about six and a half hours. Jaipur is popular with the name of ‘Pink City’ has its own history on how it got its name and this happened long time ago when Henry VI, King of Britain at that time who loves pink rose so much wanted to visit Jaipur and the Jaipur King at that time ordered all the buildings there to be painted in pink colour. We also visited Amber Fort and what was interesting there was, we took an elephant ride to reach the top of the Fort and that was one of the most unforgettable experience in my life.

We left for Agra quite early the next morning because we didn’t want to miss the golden chance to witness by our 2 eyes one of the seven wonders of the world that is Taj Mahal. Everybody was very eager when we arrived the Taj Mahal. We have been also briefed about the history of Taj Mahal and the story about Shah Jahan and his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal whose actual name was actually Arjunam Banu and what made us proud was the architect who designed Taj Mahal was Isa Khan a Muslim from Iran. We also visited government marble factory in Agra.

We left for New Delhi again and our first destination was Jawarharlal Nehru University, the No. 1 University in India. We were greeted by the Dean of Students’ Affairs. We had a dialogue with few Officers and Professors of the University. After that we were brought to the nine-storey university library. After leaving the University, we went for some window-shopping before went back to the hotel to pack our stuffs.

We left the hotel and reached the Indira Ghandi International Airport at 10.00 pm because our flight supposed to depart at 12.40 am but unluckily, it has been delayed for about 2 hours.

We touched down KLIA safely at about 11.00 am 23rd of June 2006 with 1001 sweet memories and experiences that we can’t get anywhere else.
