Mahallah Ali Ibn Abi Talib :: The Leading Mahallah in IIUM :: International Islamic University Malaysia

    GOMBAK- International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) organized its Quality Day 2007 at the Cultural Activity Centre (CAC). It has become a tradition for IIUM to celebrate this big event once in every year.

    The slogan is and always been, ‘Quality Culture: The Key to Comprehensive Excellence’ where this year the theme, ‘Achieving Global Competitiveness’.

    This grand ceremony was attended by the President of IIUM, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sanusi Junid, Chairman of Bank Rakyat, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Syed Jalaludin Syed Salim, Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Syed Arabi Idid and also the chairman of this event, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azmi Omar.

    The objective of Quality Day is to improve the quality of IIUM services to everyone. Besides, it is another approach to create awareness among the IIUM members to incorporate positive values in their work. In fact, this event is meant to ensure the better quality standards and to acknowledge those who have strived hard in order to provide the best quality in their job.

    Sanusi Junid mentioned “Wealth and knowledge should be combined together in order to help the Muslim world. IIUM is now doing whatever it takes to be a research university to assist other Muslim countries. In order to grab this dream, we should achieve a lot of things not only in IIUM but also wherever we are.”

    Sharing the experience as a former vice- chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Syed Jalaludin encouraged the staffs and the academicians to instill a sense of leadership in every level. “To embrace the quality in all aspect of live, every single individual is supposed to work hard for it. As to make IIUM to be a research institution, IIUM needs to plan all the strategies. Success would not come within one night.”

    Meanwhile, Syed Arabi stressed on the responsibility of IIUM has already expanded not only act as a learning centre but also it has also move forward and to be a unique research institution in order to help the Muslim world.

    Twelve Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) have been signed between IIUM and the universities in Saudi Arabia, Syria and Jordan. This indicated the determination of IIUM to cooperate for the betterment of the world.

    Thirteen awards presentation being given to the winners by the President of IIUM, the Honorable Rector and also the Chairman of Bank Rakyat. The winners would be celebrated in an appreciation dinner at Imperial Sheraton Hotel attended by the His Royal Highness Sultan of Pahang and Constitutional Head of IIUM, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah.
