Mahallah Ali Ibn Abi Talib :: The Leading Mahallah in IIUM :: International Islamic University Malaysia

    Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al- Muktafi Billah Shah made his first visit to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and performed Friday prayer together with all the IIUM community at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (SHAS) Mosque on 30th March 2007.

    Accompanied the King were President of IIUM, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sanusi Junid, rector of IIUM, Professor Dato’ Dr. Syed Arabi Idid, Deputy Rector of Academic and Research, Prof. Dr. Mohd Azmi Omar, Deputy Rector of Student and Alumni Affairs, Ustaz Hamidon Abd. Hamid, Deputy Rector of Internationalisation and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Sano Koutoub Moustapha, Executive Director of Management Services Division, Tuan Haji Wan Mohd Hilmi Wan Kamal and also Executive Director Finance Division, Tuan Haji Ahmad Zailan Shaari. 

    All the directors, the chiefs and the managers IIUM of were also present to give a warm welcome upon the arrival of His Majesty at 12.30PM.

    Ustaz Hamidon as the khatib on that day gave the sermon entitled The Peace of the Mind and the Soul, a Source of Strength and the congregation prayer lead by Ustaz Md. Farid.

    1500 other Muslims which include the staffs as well as the local and international students took this opportunity to shake hand with the new installed Yang Di-Pertuan Agong after the Friday prayers.
    His Majesty placed his signature in VIP’s guest book as a symbol of his presence to this campus. Before he leaves the university, Sanusi Junid representing IIUM presented him a portrait of the campus as a token of appreciation and to thank Tuanku Mizan for coming to the university.

    Tuanku Mizan was being appointed as the 13th YDP Agong on 13th December 2006 to replace Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail from Perlis.
