Al Fatihah to Anizah Othman, a graduate from International Islamic University Malaysia- Aliman editor
The 26-year-old religious teacher Anizah Othman’s desire to return home to Johor Bahru to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in October, remains as mere desire for she was found dead in a small stream opposite Beletih Industrial Estate in Kapit on Tuesday.
Her mother, Tengku Mon alias Ara Suleiman, 61, when met by reporters at the mortuary here yesterday afternoon said a few days before she went missing, Anizah had told her that she wanted to return home early this year to celebrate Hari Raya with her family.“She however said she had not bought the ticket because she had not confirmed the date for the vacation,” she said, adding that Anizah’s father a former teacher had died of a heart attack three years ago.She said Anizah was very close to her and her other siblings, and had often phoned them to update them on her (Anizah) welfare.
Last Friday, Anizah called her saying she wanted to go to Kapit the next day to do some banking business there, Tengku Mon recalled and said she never expected that that would their last conversation.
“Usually, she would go to Kapit to meet with her friends or do some banking business there. And she would definitely call me when she arrived there. When she didn’t call me at 3pm on Saturday like she always did, I sensed something has happened to her,” she said.
Tengku Mon, accompanied by her two children, arrived here at 9.45am yesterday. Anizah’s remains arrived at the mortuary about 1.20pm, while a post-mortem was conducted about 2pm.
Anizah, a graduate of International Islamic University, was posted in January this year to teach in SJK(C) Hin Hua in Song.
Her remains will be flown to her hometown today.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the Kapit police had described the case as ‘high profile murder’, but declined to say whether Anizah had been raped before she was killed. -Borneo PostAdvertisements
